Meijer Holiday Skills Clinic

The team is hosting it's annual Meijer Holiday Skills Clinic on December 28! Join the Spirit team and Associate Coach John Kisil from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at The Dow Event Center in Saginaw to freshen up on your skills and learn from the team. PLUS! Join the team for a pizza party courtesy Jet's Pizza from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. It's only $65 to sign up.

Bay Regional Medical Center Skate Shoot Score
December 2009 to February 2010
The popular Bay Regional Medical Center Skate Shoot Score competition is back for it's fourth consecutive season.

Who can compete?
Players will be divided into four categories with age determined as of December 31, 2009
1)6 and under
2)Ages 7-8
3)Ages 9-10
4)Ages 11-12
Requirements
Participants must wear all equipment including a helmet. The on ice officials will enforce all rules and all decisions are final.
Qualifiers
Players may skate in any one or both qualifiers at The Dow Event Center. Players may qualify on more than one day as long as it is a different skill level. You cannot be a finalist in any one skill on more than one qualifying day. Qualifiers are Monday, December 28, 2009 at 12 noon; Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 12 noon. One alternate will be identified in each age group and each skill category in the event a finalist cannot attend the finals.
Finals
Participants will compete in the finals on Saturday, February 27, 2010 beginning at 1 p.m. at The Dow Event Center before the Sarnia Sting/Saginaw game. Finalists will receive a Jersey for the final event.Skill Building SessionAs time permits, participants are welcome to stay for an approximate 45 minute on ice skill building session after the competition is over.
What are the events?
Fastest Skater (Timed Event) -Each participant skates one full lap around the ice behind the nets from the red line.
Shooting Accuracy -Each participant will have 5 attempts to score goals from the hash marks on a shooter tutor.
Breakaway Shootout -Each participant skates in alone on the goalie in an attempt to score.
Hardest Shot -Each participant in the 9-10 and 11-12 age groups shoot 3 pucks and the hardest shot will be recorded. To be recorded, the shot must hit the net.
Goalie Competition -The goalie competition runs the same time as the Breakaway Shootout event and consists of multiple rounds of breakaways to produce a winner based on the best save percentages.
Winners
The winner of each age group in each category will receive a commemorative medal.
Awards
All registrants will receive a Spirit puck, event T-shirt, and Spirit ticket voucher which can be used for the December 29th home game.
