Tom was drafted by the New York Rangers during the 4th round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Sagainaw's nominee for the Emms Family Award as the OHL Rookie of the Year for 2003-04 and nominee for the William Hanley Trophy as the Most Sportsmanlike Player in the OHL for both the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons. Named the best defensive forward in the 2005-06 OHL Western Conference Poll. Won a gold medal with Team Canada during the 2006 and 2007 World Junior Championships. Was the Western Conference MVP for the 2006 OHL All Star Classic. Scored hat tricks in two consecutive games this season, the first on October 15th, 2006 against the Kingston Frontenacs and the second on October 19th, 2006 against the Brampton Battalion. Participated in the 2006 ADT Canada-Russia Challenge and named alternate captain for Team Canada's 2007 World Junior squad. Had 10 game winning goals this season. |
