Spirit Battle Spitfires in 4-2 Loss

(Saginaw, MI) The Saginaw Spirit lost to the Windsor Spitfires 4-2 Friday night at TheDow Event Center. Spirit goaltender Edward Pasquale finished the game with 35 saves. The Spirit move their record to 20-11-0-2 for the season.

Spitfires winger Greg Nemisz (NHL CALGARY FLAMES) scored a goal early into the first at 1:20 after receiving assists from winger Austin Watson and defenseman Mark Cundari (NHL ST.LOUIS BLUES). Nemisz found the net another time for the Spitfires, scoring a powerplay goal at the 7:15 mark. Assists were credited to winger Taylor Hall and center Adam Henrique (NHL NEW JERSEY DEVILS). Windsor remained ahead 2-0 at the end of the period.

The Spitfires added a third goal in the second period after Henrique fed the puck to Harry Young (NHL NEW JERSEY DEVILS) who knocked in the puck at 11:59. Spirit winger Kain Allicock answered back with his fourth goal of the season at 13:17. The powerplay goal was assisted by defensemen Adam Comrie (NHL FLORDIA PANTHERS) and T.J. Brodie (NHL CALGARY FLAMES). It wasn't long before the Spirit added another point to the scoreboard. Center John Kavanagh received a pass from winger Chris Chappell and tallied a goal at 16:16 in the period.

Cundari scored a goal for the Spitfires at 2:41 the third period with assists coming from winger Jacob Lalonde and center Eric Wellwood. The game ended with Windsor ahead, 4-2.  

Spirit goaltender Edward Pasquale posted 35 saves and Spitfires goalie Andrew Engelage finished the game with 27 saves.

 The Spirit will be on the road Saturday, December 27 to take on the Plymouth Whalers at the Compuware Sports Arena. The puck drops at 7:05 PM. The team will return home on Sunday, December 28 to match-up against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at 4:00 PM.
