Saginaw Spirit Internship Program

The Saginaw Spirit are always looking for talented and out going individuals to join the team and help it in creating its ‘raving fan’ atmosphere!

Saginaw Spirit Overview

The Saginaw Spirit is a major junior hockey team with the Canadian Hockey League, the premier developmental league for the National Hockey League.  Approximately sixty percent of all active NHL players spent time on a CHL roster.  The Saginaw Spirit average 4,500 fans per home game, with 34 regular season games played at The Dow Event Center of Saginaw, Michigan.

Internship Program Overview

Game Day and Public Relations Interns will be responsible for assisting the staff in the facilitation of the team’s marketing, promotional and public relations programs.  Interns will work all home game and work a scheduled period of time in the Spirit office.  No prior experience is required and necessary training will be provided.  This is an unpaid position. (Ten positions available)

Ticketing and Merchandising Interns assist the team with the day-to-day ticketing and merchandising operations of the team.  Interns will work at Spirit home games at the Will Call booth and/or merchandise booth.  Interns will also work several hours per week in the office.  Intern may be trained on TicketMaster if applicable. Intern must be currently enrolled in university or college to be considered. A monetary stipend will be paid upon completion of internship. (Three positions available)

The Broadcasting Intern will work with the Director of Broadcasting and Communications on the day-to-day tasks associated with the team's radio program, including but not limited to home game broadcasts, the weekly Spirit radio show, radio remotes, and commercial edits.  Intern will also interview players and other special guest at Spirit home games and for select team media conferences for use on SaginawSpirit.com and in select game broadcasts.   No prior experience is required, however Intern must be well spoken and have a positive on-camera presence. This is an unpaid position.  No travel currently associated with internship, however a valid U.S. Passport or Extended License is recommended. (One position available)

Hockey Operations Interns will work with the coaching staff on administrative tasks related to the ongoing efforts of the hockey team.  Interns will also assist the coaching staff with the team's coaching video production and statistical compilation during Spirit home games.  This is an unpaid, non-coaching position.  No travel currently associated with internship, however a valid U.S. Passport or Extended License is recommended. (Two positions available)

Internship Time Frame

The internship program will run for the duration of the 2010-2011 hockey season, with interns starting in late August 2010 for a series of orientations and training sessions and concluding in late March 2011.  Interns may be asked to work any additional home games played in the postseason, which could run until early May 2011.
